This patient initially presented with an anterior crossbite (upper front teeth behind lower front teeth) and a slight open bite (upper front teeth that did not vertically overlap the lower front teeth). These orthodontic problems were corrected using ceramic braces and elastics (rubber bands). Total treatment time was 18 months.
This patient initially presented with an anterior crossbite (upper front tooth behind lower front tooth), and her back teeth had shifted forward because of the crowding. These orthodontic problems were corrected using a two-step technique. The patient wore a special appliance called a Carriere Distalizer for the first 6 months of treatment. This allowed for the correction of her bite relationship prior to the placement of braces on the teeth, thus reducing the amount of time she had to wear full braces. After her bite was corrected, braces were placed on the teeth to idealize tooth alignment. Total treatment time was 15 months.
This patient presented with a very deep overbite (upper front teeth have excessive vertical overlap of lower front teeth). In fact, her lower front teeth were pinching the tissue in the roof of her mouth. She wore metal braces for 15 months to help improve her bite.
This patient presented with a deep overbite (upper front teeth have excessive vertical overlap of lower front teeth) and moderate crowding. He wore Invisalign® (removable, clear, plastic trays) for 12 months to help improve his bite and tooth alignment.
This patient presented with a missing lower incisor (she was born without one of her lower front teeth) and had some crowding and alignment issues. She wore metal braces for 18 months to help improve her tooth alignment without the need for a dental implant to replace the missing tooth.
This patient presented with a deep overbite (upper front teeth have excessive vertical overlap of lower front teeth) and moderate crowding. She wore metal braces for 15 months to help improve her bite and tooth alignment.
This patient presented with a severe open bite (upper and lower front teeth did not touch even when the patient tried to close her teeth together). Because of the severity of the open bite and underlying skeletal issues, this patient needed orthognathic surgery (jaw surgery) in conjunction with orthodontic treatment to help correct her bite. She wore Invisalign® (removable, clear, plastic trays) for about 9 months prior to having jaw surgery. She has continued to wear Invisalign® trays after the surgery to finish making some minor tooth movements in order to achieve better tooth alignment.
